Retail Business Attorney: Frequently Asked Questions

  • A business attorney offers legal representation to corporations, big-box retailers, and small businesses. Their work includes defending clients against lawsuits and proactively protecting them by drafting robust agreements—such as leases and business contracts—that help minimize the risk of future litigation.

  • Business attorneys provide legal representation to businesses throughout acquisitions such as the purchase of another business, real estate, or other forms of property. They also help companies adhere to both state and local legal business requirements like licensure or liability insurance, and provide expert legal advice regarding intellectual property and copyright laws.

  • You should contact a business attorney as soon as you start your business. You want a lawyer before any conflict arises regarding a business dispute, or when you suspect it could escalate.

Early legal guidance is crucial when negotiations stall, legal threats are issued, contracts are breached, or when the dispute involves complex issues like compliance with regulations, substantial financial stakes, or reputational concerns.

  • Startups may seem like they’re too small to need a business attorney, but it’s often vital that they hire one—especially as the business grows and more team members are hired. A business attorney will help a startup navigate legal needs as they expand. For example, they can help draft employment agreements and partnership contracts, as well as provide legal advice surrounding property and business acquisitions.

  • In your first meeting, Michelle will take the time to understand your unique needs and objectives and discuss the best path forward. From there, she’ll craft a customized legal strategy designed to achieve your specific goals. Throughout the process, you can rely on consistent guidance and support until a resolution is reached.
